My classic spaghetti and meatballs.
Using this recipe, roll the meat mix into little balls about 1" in diameter.
Fry them in olive oil until very brown and slightly crisp.
Tip: Substitute the breadcrumbs with these. Put them in a baggie and crush them into very fine crumbs with a rolling pin.
It makes all the difference in the world.
And WA-LA!
I like to use a vodka tomato sauce. Yum!

Baby Steps
Remember that ridiculous project that started here, and continued here, but after 3 months STILL wasn't finished here?
Well guess what? Only 5 months later and we're finally done!

Before & After
We went with the classic oak treads and white kick plates. They look much better in person. In fact now that they're completed, they look like the most fabulous stairs I've ever seen!

Not Ready for Prime Time
And finally, for those of you who live in the area, don't forget to watch my band The Receders on St. Cloud State University's UTVS Channel 21 this Monday night. We'll be playing a full hour of original material as a preview to our new (and first) CD we will be recording later this summer.
Have a GREAT weekend everyone!

I don't suppose you could share the recipe for the vodka sauce that you mentioned.
The steps are a thing of beauty.
Is there any way that a resident of Maine would be able to watch the Receders through the miracle of the modern computer?
And of course, I will need to know when and how I can get me a CD.
gale - I don't make the vodka sauce from scratch, I just buy whatever looks good at the time. There's a ton of sauces available.
ashley - I'm pretty sure I can get a DVD of the event once it's over. If it's not too embarrassing I'll send you a copy.
Spaghetti with meatballs in my house consists of Armour Italian style meatballs nuked in the microwave and a large can of Hunt's dumped on top (it's 78 cents at my grocery). The vodka goes on ice with a little Coke. The stairs are beautiful!
Jeff,
O!! You're killing the Italian tradition by frying IN olive oil. Whatsamaddayu?? Just drop the meataball in the hot sauce an hour before serving. Dat way, you're sure to get a nica moist meataball. Not so full of OIL. O! Jarred sauce??? C'mon, just look up the recipee, you'll never go back. Try Rachel Ray's; hers is pretty good!
linda - Vodka kind of goes with everything, doesn't it?
deborah - With my Scandahoovian heritage, be thankful I didn't post a recipe for spaghetti and Swedish meatballs!
Sweet steps. Congrats on the completion!
Too bad I've already decided on hamburgers for dinner, or I'd be havin' me some spag!
Those meatballs look edible. Can you drink the vodka sauce? Do you have any advice for adult onset acne?
The stairs look great. I buy turkey meatballs pre-pattied so I can't put bagel crisps in them, but the idea is genius.
The stairs look sweet. You need to post some mp3s of your performances.
I'd be cleaning those stairs everyweek and cursing myself for the white kickplates...
But they do look nice!
You know...
I bet you'd enjoy that spaghetti even more if you sat and ate it on the new steps.
Dear ba doozie, I'm 50, and if I don't put aloe vera gel on my face every night, I wake up with a zit. I only wish I knew about the stuff when I was in high school. Get the 100% clear gel. Great for burns, and sunburn too.
mmm, pasketti and meatbulbs.
I like to use Jimmy Dean Sage sausage for making my meatballs. There is something harmonic (pun fully intended) in the mix of the sausage and noodles and sauce. Newman's Own makes a KILLER marinara.
Wait the second, is this something new? I've been reading your blog for over 5 months, I think, and I didn't know you cook? Those meatballs look delish!
And nice steps as well! Your wife is one lucky lady for having such a well-rounded crafty kind of guy!
Do you ever do a web simil-cast so that we can all listen in? That would be fun...we got to listen to a friends band in Colorado that did that.
